National Volunteer Week 2025 – Thanks to our volunteers

National Volunteer Week
19 – 25 May 2025

As you know already, community cricket is held together by the hard work and commitment of an army of volunteers.

Volunteering can take many forms, from large commitments such as working on the club committee or coaching to “micro-volunteering” such as running the BBQ at a single club event or fixing a piece of club equipment. As we come to the end of National Volunteer Week, we thank and salute all the volunteers who donate their time to the club.

Volunteering in any form is of great value to the club and it can be incredibly rewarding too. Experience tells us that the best volunteering comes when a work area is combined with a personal skill or a passion – and across Glen Iris Cricket Club we have a need for a lot of different skills.

Broadly, there are several key areas where the club needs to expand the range of people available.
• Coaches and team managers
• Communications, including social media, website development
• Developing women’s cricket
• Improving sponsorship and business connections into the community
• Grounds management and infrastructure
• Social events

Those are just a few of the areas where your skills are needed. Even if you think you can only help out for a few hours a season, that could be vital in getting important jobs done.

We are interested in developing the pool of volunteers for the coming season2. Whether it’s renewing your commitment from last year or putting your hand up for the first time, let us know how you’d like to help.

Get in touch via giccsecretary3146@gmail.com or reach out to the club president or other committee member. All ideas and suggestions and any time or skills you can contribute are very welcome.
