Jim’s Welcome

Hi All,

I am delighted to be accepted as your new club president. I am certainly aware of the great work that has gone into this club and I would like to firstly acknowledge the fantastic and unstinting work done by our departing president Scott Rojko, and treasurer Sue Morris and the committee over the last few years. It’s only by starting to learn about the running of a high quality club like this, that I have begun to fully appreciate the time and effort these guys have put in. Scott and the committee deserve our heartfelt thanks for helping create what we have today.

Glen Iris CC is a fantastic club with a strong culture and rich heritage – amazingly it is our 100th anniversary this coming season (23/24)! Scott Rankin and Toby Tribe have put in some great work to create this event and I would ask that you put this in your diaries, gather friends, partners and team mates and book your tickets – it will be a special evening and a very important one for the club, where the whole club community, past and present can come together.

We have just met as a new committee and have started laying down our plans for the coming season. We’ll be focusing on a set of strategic priorities which will allow us to; enhance the social interaction and inclusion across our club, grow our financial strength, ensure that we have enough resources and expertise across our committee and sub committees to run this club safely and effectively, plus of course enhance our on-field performance.

Finally, as has already been mentioned, we have asked Peter Everett to begin the process of conducting a long term strategic review of the club to help guide our future. Peter will be reaching out to many of you for your input and thoughts over the coming weeks – please do participate where you can for this important piece of work.

I am looking forward to getting into the swing of things, celebrating our 100th in style and helping where I can to carry on the great work that has already been happening.

Cheers

Jim Parry
President GICC
