Welcome Back Lachy Holmes

It is with great pleasure that the Glen Iris Cricket Club welcomes back one of our all-time great junior players, Lachlan Holmes, to the fold for the 2022/23 season.

Lachy started with the GICC in the 2002/03 season in Under 10s as a 7 year old and his junior career saw him play in 5 junior premierships, including the 2008/09 Under 14A and back to back Under 16A premierships in 2009/10 and 2010/11, along side 2nd XI skipper Matt Ciardulli, last year’s 2nd XI Semi-final keeper and former 1st XI player, Daniel Cohen and Balwyn Tigers Football Club superstar, Charlie Haley. He became only the 3rd junior player in the club’s history to play 100 junior games for our club and his junior achievements for Glen Iris were acknowledged by the ECA in crowning Lachy as the winner of the Dave Dickie Award for the competitions Best Junior Player in the 2010/11 season.

During his time with the GICC, Lachy also played 16 senior games, making 543 runs with 4 x 50s and a high score of 66, before he set off for higher level cricket, playing Premier Cricket with the St. Kilda Cricket Club.

It has been a stellar number for years for Lachy at St.Kilda with 146 games to his name, 44 of which were in the 1st XI and in those games, he made 3736 runs, with 20 x 50s and 6 x 100s (including 140 in the 1st XI v Dandenong) and a highest score of 176*. He also played in 3 premierships at Premier level, namely in the 2013/14 3rd XI and 2015/16 and 2017/18 2nd XI St. Kilda premiership wins, with old mate and another ex-GICC junior, Dan Meddings.
The club is thrilled to welcome Lachy back to the Glen Iris Cricket Club in what the club hopes is a formidable partnership between him our other ex-junior superstar, Nathan Boucher.
