Marko Dordevic | Life Membership

At last Monday night’s Annual General Meeting, hosted simultaneously at the Malvern Vale Hotel and on Zoom online, the GICC Committee nominated Marko Dordevic for life membership of the Glen Iris Cricket Club, upon which he was duly elected, unanimously.

Joining the club in the 2004/05, Marko has since played 248 games for the Glen Iris Cricket Club which sees him as a 4-time Premiership player in 2005/06 (4th XI) 2006/07 (4th XI) 2010/11 (5th XI) and 2018/19 (4th XI).

His club service has seen him captain various XIs for 8 of the 17 years he has been at Glen Iris, leading the 2007/08 4th XI, 2008/09 4th XI, 2009/10 4th XI, 2010/11 5th XI, 2017/18 6th XI, 2018/19 4th XI, 2019/20 4th XI and 2020/21 4th XI teams.

Off field, Marko has also valuably contributed as a member of the Club Committee in two lengthy stints across 8 seasons in 2006/07, 2007/08, 2008/09, 2009/10, 2010/11, 2018/19, 2019/20 and 2020/21. Unfortunately for the club, Marko has decided to step back from his role on the Committee this year, but we do not expect that will limit his assistance and involvement in the club

From a playing perspective, Marko has taken 401 wickets, which is 12th all-time on the list of wicket takers for the club. Those 401 wickets are made up of 7 x 5wi and 2 x 7wi with best bowling of 8/44. His bowling exploits have seen him win the 2009/10 4th XI, 2010/11 5th XI, 2012/13 5th XI and 2017/18 6th XI Bowling Awards and in the field, when he is not bowling, he has won the 2004/05 5th XI and 2012/13 5th XI Fielding Awards.

A leader with the ball, Marko has also made 976 runs with a highest score of 53x and along the way, his efforts have seen him win the 2010/11 5th XI and 2011/12 4th XI Most Valuable Player Awards.

The club take great pleasure and pride in congratulating one of our great clubmen on his elevation to Life Membership and we are sure all members will be unanimous in their congratulations.
