Gatehouse signs on as Assistant Coach

Further to the full time return to the club of Tommy McDermott, the Glen Iris Cricket Club is thrilled to welcome back another prodigal son, as Assistant Coach for season 2020/21, in Brett Gatehouse.

Brett has spent the past three seasons playing for the Rowville Cricket Club in the Ferntree Gully District Cricket Association, serving as Vice-Captain for two seasons, making over 1000 runs and winning the club batting award.

Prior to that, Brett played has played 99 games for the Glen Iris Cricket Club, making 2939 runs (putting him 48th on the list of all time run scorers for the club) with 22 × 50s and 2 × 100s with a high score of 158.

He’s also proven a handy leg spinner with 60 wickets and best bowling of 4/13 along the way.

Player Cap No. 37, Brett was the 1st ever winner of the John Foley Award in 2006/07, winning the Geoff Ferguson / Ric Ford Club Championship in the same season, along with the 1st XI Batting Award that year. He’s also a multiple Most Valuable Player Award winner, in the 1st XI in 2006/07 and 2004/05 (3rd XI) and added Batting Awards in 2004/05 (3rd XI) and 2009/10 (2nd XI).

It’s great to see Brett back at the club, joining his great mate leading the club in season 2020/21.
